Sunshine Rockers Dance originated in 1995 when John & Robyn (O'Connor) went to live in Gympie and found that there were no Rock ‘n’ Roll dances or Dancers at all in the area.
Both having a good backgrounding in various dance styles decided to conduct a workshop which resulted in regular weekly classes for 7 years and so began their teaching career.
They have been teachers at the Gympie Muster for the past 10 years teaching Rock n Roll, Swing , Salsa has recently been introduced. Because of the involvement with The Muster opportunities arise to conduct workshops in many areas where potential dance students don’t have teachers.
They taught in Gympie and the Sunshine Coast at Nambour, Tewantin and Noosa hence the name.
They moved to Brisbane nearly 5 years ago and began teaching there. Classes are currently held at the Oxley Bowling Club Englefield Road Oxley Tuesday nights Rock n Roll and Swing.
Private Lessons in many styles of dance: Social Latin, Dances for weddings, Lindy and Balboa can be learned most nights at their home. or by appointment at other times.
